Heather Ross Boat Race

Boat Race is a fabric collection about the kind of summer childhood that feels
almost impossible now — long afternoons outside with nowhere to be, making
tiny boats from sticks and patchwork sails and racing them down the stream behind the house. Some floated beautifully. Many sank immediately. None of that
mattered.

The prints in this collection are little snapshots of those days: camping trips and
sleeping bags, sun-warmed rocks and cold lakes, bright green grass under bare
feet, blue skies, yellow sunshine, and the particular magic of being small in summertime. I added ginghams throughout because I wanted the whole collection to
feel like a picnic blanket spread out in the grass — cheerful, nostalgic, and made
for gathering together.
